Two Must Have Accessories for the Panasonic Lumix L10

One of the things I like about the Panasonic Lumix L10 is that it’s an all-in-one camera. With its built-in Leica zoom lens, compact design, and extensive photographic features, there’s very little additional gear you need to carry.

That’s part of the appeal of the L10. I can grab the camera and head out without worrying about extra lenses or a bag full of accessories. I particularly appreciated that simplicity when I traveled to Washington DC with only the Panasonic Lumix L10.

However, there are two inexpensive accessories that I consider essential for my L10: the JJC Automatic Lens Cap and the Neewer 43mm Circular Polarizer. Both are small, lightweight, and make the camera more convenient to use.

Even better, they work together.

JJC Automatic Lens Cap (ALC-LX100 BLACK)

The JJC Automatic Lens Cap is probably my favorite accessory for the Lumix L10. It’s a simple product that makes a surprisingly big difference in how I use the camera.

Unlike a conventional lens cap, which must be removed before taking a photograph, the JJC cap opens automatically when the camera is turned on and the lens extends. When the camera is switched off and the lens retracts, the cap closes automatically.

There’s no lens cap to remove, put in a pocket, or accidentally lose.

This is particularly convenient for travel and street photography, where I frequently turn the camera on and off throughout the day. I can pull the L10 out, turn it on, take a few photographs, and put it away again without thinking about the lens cap.

The three-blade design also helps protect the lens from dust, fingerprints, and scratches when the camera isn’t being used.

Installation: Make Sure It Clicks Into Place

Some Amazon reviewers report that the JJC cap doesn’t fit securely or can fall off the camera. Others praise its fit, construction, and convenience.

I haven’t experienced any problems with mine.

The key is making sure the lens cap is fully seated and clicks securely into place. It takes a little more force than you might initially expect.

Once properly installed, mine has stayed securely attached to the L10 and operates exactly as intended.

The JJC ALC-LX100 lens cap is also designed for the Panasonic LX100 and LX100 II, along with compatible Leica D-Lux cameras. It’s a relatively inexpensive accessory that improves the everyday shooting experience.

Neewer 43mm Circular Polarizer

My second favorite accessory is the Neewer 43mm Circular Polarizer.

A circular polarizer is one of the few filters I regularly use for travel and landscape photography. It can make a noticeable difference in photographs, particularly when shooting around water, foliage, and reflective surfaces.

A polarizer can:

  • Reduce unwanted reflections from water, glass, and foliage.
  • Deepen blue skies and improve cloud contrast.
  • Reduce glare on leaves, making foliage colors appear richer.
  • Improve color saturation in the right lighting conditions.

The effect depends on the direction of the light and the angle of the camera. I particularly like using a polarizer when photographing landscapes, waterfalls, and autumn foliage.

Because the L10 accepts 43mm filters, the Neewer polarizer is compact and adds very little bulk to the camera.

A polarizer reduces the amount of light reaching the sensor, which can require a slower shutter speed or higher ISO. However, when conditions are right, it’s one of the most useful filters you can carry.

Why These Two Accessories Work So Well Together

Perhaps the best feature of this combination is that the JJC Automatic Lens Cap works with the Neewer circular polarizer installed.

I can leave the polarizer attached to the lens, and the JJC cap still opens and closes normally when the camera is powered on or off.

This eliminates the need to remove the filter or switch back to a conventional lens cap when I’m finished shooting.

The JJC cap also doesn’t prevent me from rotating the polarizer to adjust its effect.

For a camera designed around simplicity and portability, this combination makes a lot of sense. Both accessories can remain on the L10, ready for the next photograph.

Final Thoughts

The Panasonic Lumix L10 doesn’t need a long list of accessories to be an enjoyable and capable travel camera. That’s one of the reasons I like shooting with it.

The JJC Automatic Lens Cap makes the camera quicker and more convenient to use while protecting the lens between photographs. The Neewer 43mm Circular Polarizer gives me additional control over reflections, skies, and color when photographing landscapes and nature.

Neither accessory is expensive, bulky, or complicated. These are two small additions that make an already convenient camera even better. For me, they’re the only two accessories I wouldn’t want to be without.
